National Journal of Physiology

National Journal of Physiology is a periodical publication intended for reporting novel research, thereby facilitating the progression of physiological science.  It is an in-house journal of the Association of Physiologists of Tamilnadu, which is one of the top regional registered Association doing yeoman service to all the basic medical science departments and physiologists in particular across all South Indian States. Physiologists are constantly trying to answer key questions in areas ranging from the functions of single cell to the interactions between human populations and our environment here on earth, the moon, and beyond. There are hundreds of journals in publication for basic medical sciences, but very few in particular for Physiology alone.

In the above context, we have taken all efforts that our National Journal of Physiology contains articles that are peer reviewed and ensured that all articles meet the journal’s standards of quality and scientific validity. Both experimental and clinical research studies are welcome and given due importance. We are pioneers in publishing research articles, review articles, commentaries, short communications and case reports since 2007. Our journey started as a bulletin, progressed to an in-house non-indexed journal of APT and now, striving hard to get into the list of Indexed National Journals.

We publish the results in an organized manner, describing experiments or calculations with enough details that an independent researcher could repeat the experiment or calculation to verify the outcome. Each such article becomes part of the permanent scientific record in our armamentarium.

Our Chief Editor of NJP is supported by an outstanding Editorial Board of national and international researchers. This multidisciplinary open-access journal is at the forefront of disseminating and communicating scientific knowledge and impactful discoveries to researchers, academics, clinicians, PG & UG students and the public nationwide.

The aim of NJP is to provide the most complete and reliable source of information on current developments in the field of Physiology.

Vision & Mission

NJP are particularly suited to our vision in the following aspects:

  • Promotes the integration of theories, methods, and research in human physiology
  • Presents original studies on functions of different organ systems and the pathophysiology of various diseases
  • Provides a forum for researchers in many areas of physiology
  • Includes subdisciplines such as environmental physiology, space physiology, critical care physiology, sports and occupational physiology

The mission of NJP of APT is to publish invited reviews that reflect and shape current opinion on physiology and its future directions. This NJP journal should provide specialists, researchers, lecturers, and PG and UG students a unique platform to keep updated with the expanding volume of information published in the field of physiology by providing:

  • The views of experts on current advances in Physiology in a brief, clear, and readable format.
  • Evaluations of the most interesting papers, annotated by experts, from the great wealth of recent original publications.Papers will reflect the wide range of multidisciplinary approaches that are used to investigate questions in this field, including integration of physiology at the systems, cellular and molecular levels.

Areas of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • Cellular/Molecular
  • Cardiovascular & Electrophysiology
  • Respiratory
  • Gastro-Intestinal
  • Renal
  • Neurophysiology
  • Exercise physiology
  • Metabolism
  • Endocrine
  • Reproductive
  • Nutritional
  • Environmental
  • Comparative Physiology
  • Control Systems
  • Development and Ageing
  • Psychophysics
  • Pathophysiology

Section Editors, who are major authorities in the field, will be appointed by the Editors of the journal. They will divide their section into a number of topics, ensuring that the field is comprehensively covered and that all issues of current importance are emphasized.

Reviews

Reputed Authors can write short review articles periodically in their expert field and highlight the past, present, recent and future developments in their subject, emphasizing the aspects that, in their opinion, are most important. In addition, they can also provide short annotations to the papers that they consider to be most interesting from all those published in their topic over the previous year.

Review articles in physiology are by invitation only
